In House Easy Read? No problem

 

Easy read documents typically contain images alongside small bite sized chunks of simplified text to make the information easier to read, digest and understand. As a Deaf/ disabled-led company we were shocked to find that the majority of stock cartoon/ drawn images available on the internet depicted only white, non-disabled people. The very few images available online that showed any resemblance of diversity, deafness and disability were vastly stereotypical, or adhered to the medical model perspective. This lack of representation was not reflective of our company, our values, or the communities we create work by, with and for. So, we decided to create our own images, a sample of which you can view here. We currently hold a library of 100 images and are growing our collection as need and demand arises. We are happy for other organisations to use our Easy Read images in their own documents, subject to receiving permission. Get in touch if you would like to know more.
